Abstract (EN)
In this thesis, a high-gain antenna system with beam steering capability for use in 5G base stations is designed and analyzed. Within the scope of the study, a pattern reconfigurable 1x8 linear patch antenna array capable of directing beams to different directions (+4°, -4°, 0°) using a phase shifting technique is proposed. The antenna is optimized to operate at a frequency of 780 MHz. Antenna designs with two different feed structures were developed. The first design used a microstrip feed line and Rogers RO4003C dielectric material, while the second design used a coaxial feed method. Both structures were modeled and evaluated through simulations using CST Studio Suite. Based on the results, it was concluded that the antenna can be modeled with both methods, and that, in particular, the pattern reconfiguration allows coverage of different regions with a single antenna and that the antenna can be used as a 5G transmitter antenna in rural areas. In addition, measurements of the reconfigurable Wilkinson power divider designed and manufactured for the antenna configuration were performed with a VNA and compared with simulation data in MATLAB. Although small deviations were observed due to the dielectric losses of the FR-4 material, in general the designs produced data at levels close to the expected frequency, phase and amplitude values.
