The effect of 6+1 analytical writing and evaluation model on the sixth grade students' writing expression skills

The purpose of this research is to identify the impact of 6+1 Analytic Writing and Evaluation Model on sixth grade middle school students' written expression skills. In this direction, from quantitative research methods pre-test, post-test, quasi-experimental design with control group were used in collecting, analysing and interpretation of the obtained datas. The study was performed in Cumhuriyet Middle School in Kütahya with a total of 53 sixth grade students who were in experiment and control groups. The study took 9 weeks. In the experimental group lessons 6+1 Analytic Writing and Evaluation Model, whereas in the control group the required processes of Turkish lesson curriculum's program were followed. In the study, written expression samples of pupils were collected and evaluated with Written Expression Graduated Scoring Key and 6 +1 Analytical Writing and Evaluation Scale .Rank test with Wilcoxon sign, Mann-Whitney U test, percentage and frequency analysis were used on the datas which were obtained quantitatively. As a result of the datas of research in student's writing skills in favor of the experimental group statistical significant differences were determined. 6+1 Analytic Writing and Evaluation Model was efficient on writing acquisition of study groups' application levels in the Turkish education program and constituted statistical significant differences in writing performances such as ideas, arrangement, form of expression, choice of words, sentence fluency, presentation and spelling.
