The effect of the 7E learning model on conducting a lesson on attitude of student towards the course on the subjects of social studies in the unit of "Demokrasinin seruveni"

The main objective of this research is to examine effects of the activies of the subject of "The Adventure of Democracy" prepared in accordance with the 7E learning model on academic achievement of students and their attitude towards the course. The research group of the study is comprised of 48 students at secondary school in the central district of Ağrı. The research follows a mixed pattern. In the quantitive part, 'quasi experimental pattren' has been employed in order to determine the efficiency of two different teaching method. While classroom activities prepored by 7E learning method are conducted in the experiment group, in the control group teacher-centered teaching has been conducted by the save teacher. The implementation process of the study took seven week period, a total of 21 hours of implementation. The first week of the process was used for the pre tests, the last weeks for post tests and five weeks process in beetween was used as teacher-centered suitable for the achievements of the unit and 7E learning Model. The data were obtained through three different measurement of instrument which are 'The Adventure of Democracy Achievement Test (ADAT), 'Social Studies Attitude Test (SSAT) and 'Quasi Structured Interview Form (QSIF) During the data analysis, the followings werw used: Skewness Index fort he normalcy testing of the scale and sub-dimension points. Match-up T Test for the comparison of pre and post tests, two distinct sample T Test. The result of the study suggests that there is a stasticaly significant relation between the academic achievements of the students in the experiment group and control group, in favour of the experiment group. However, there is no statisticaly significant differens between the two groups in terms of their attitudes towards social studies course. After the analysis of the qualititive data, the experiment group students whom 7E Learning Model applied to stated that they had the coice of reinforcing the subject by studying concertedly. When considering the resons of the students, preference of the course performed according to 7E Learning Model, if has been found out that, students learnt the subject as weel as having fun. In addition, they stated that this model made learning permonent. On the contrary, he teacher-centered teaching control group students stated that, the teacher had the active and they themselves had the passive role. As a result, they expressed that the course was boring.
