The USA's Middle East policy during Obama period: The cases of Iraq, Syria and Libya

In this study, the USA's Middle East and specifically Iraq, Syria and Libya policies were examined Obama period and post Obama Era. The policy of the USA towards the Middle East has been analyzed mainly within the framework of the assumptions of neoclassical realism and American Grand Strategies. While analyzing the Middle East and specifically Iraq, Syria and Libya policies of the USA during the Obama period; analysis was made at the level of individual, state and system. It has been argued that with the Obama period, the world changed from a unipolarity to a multi-polar / non-polar structure. The impact of the American system, the public and the leader on the decision-making process in foreign policy was examined. It is evaluated that Obama is trying to solve the problems in the USA, has made a significant leap in energy by giving importance to shale gas and wants to end the terrorist threat worldwide. In the study, interviews were conducted with the experts, the discourse analysis was made (The numerical sum of words frequently emphasized in the 2010 and 2015 National Security Strategy was taken) and the power comparison was made between the USA and Russia, who faced the Syrian crisis with descriptive statistics management. In addition, it has been also military powers were compared. It has been argued that since the second period of Obama, the abstaining approach of the USA against crises in the Middle East continued in the Trump period. Although Trump has taken a similar approach in Syria and Libya, it is stated that he has a slightly different attitude towards Obama regarding relations with Iran, Saudi Arabia and Israel. In the study, the policies of the actors involved in the developments in the Middle East were analyzed in Iraq, Syria and Libya. Finally, suggestions have been made regarding the solution of the crises in Syria and Libya.
