The effect of early mobilization status onthe comfort level of patients after abdominal surgery

This study was carried out on the effects of early mobilization status on the comfort levels of the patients hospitalized in the General Surgery Intensive Care Unit in Adana City Training and Research Hospital. The data of the study were collected from 252 patients in total between 15 November 2020 and 20 February 2021. The data were obtained using the Sociodemographic and Disease-Related Information Data Form, the Observer Mobility Scale (GSS), and the General Comfort Scale (GSS). In the evaluation of the data; The t test, Mann-Whitney test, Kruskall-Wallis Analysis of Variance were used in Independent Groups, and One-Way Analysis of Variance and chi-square analysis tests were applied in repeated measurements. After obtaining ethical and institutional permission, the socio-demographic characteristics of 252 patients hospitalized in the intensive care unit were applied to the patient form. In the applied form, 113 (44.8%) were female, 139 (52.3%) were male. Regarding the Observer Mobility Scale scores of the patients, it was observed that the patient was most dependent on the nurse during the activities of 'turning from one side of the bed to the other, sitting by the bed, standing up and walking'. It was observed that 52% of the patients depended on the nurse to sit by the bedside. The difference between blood pressure, pulse and respiration before and after mobilization was found to be significant (p<0.05). It was found that the dimensions of the patients' general comfort scale and the correlations of the sub-items in the observer mobility scale were positively correlated with each other (p<0.05). The difference between gender, alcohol and cigarette use of the general comfort scale was found to be significant (p<0.05). However, the difference between marital status, age, education, weight and height of the general comfort scale was statistically insignificant (p<0.05). As a result of the research; It was observed that early mobilization of patients in the postoperative period had a positive effect on their levels. Necessary suggestions were given in order to deal with the research with different subjects.
