Abdulaziz al-Maqaleh: His life and poetry

Poetry has held significance for humankind from the dawn of existence to the present. People have continuously attached importance to poetry, carefully expressing their emotions through it. Remarkably, even those who cannot read or write have often chosen to convey their feelings in poetic form. Poetry occupies a prominent place in every society, including in Arab society. Since the Jahiliyyah Period, poetry has been referred to as the "diwan" of the Arabs, underscoring its value within Arab culture. In Yemen, one of the Arab countries where poetry is equally esteemed, 'Abd al-'Aziz al-Maqalih stands out as a distinguished poet. This study examines the life and literary works of 'Abd al-'Aziz al-Maqalih, recognized as a key figure in Yemen's literary and cultural sphere and as a significant contributor to Arabic literature through his poetry. In this work, a thematic and stylistic analysis of al-Maqalih's poems has been conducted, evaluating his literary legacy and his position within Arabic literature. His poetry addresses social and political issues, containing meanings and images that reflect Yemen's historical and cultural richness. In his work, al-Maqalih often combines poetic elements with modern techniques, presenting content rich in emotional and social depth. Since beginning his poetic journey at a young age, al-Maqalih has produced noteworthy works throughout his career. His poetry sheds light on social and political transformations, offering a profound literary depth. It is anticipated that al-Maqalih's works will continue to inspire future generations and make lasting contributions to Arabic literature for many years to come.
