Abdullah b. al-Mubarak and His Place in Hadith Science

Living in the period of hadith collection and classification Abdullah ibn al-Mubarak is one of the important scholars of the hijri second century. The fact that the works he wrote were one of the first studies of the classification period and that some of these works survived to the present day, further increase his importance in the science of hadith. For this reason, the determination of his place in the science of hadith will help us to understand the concept of narration and classification of the period in which he lived. For this reason, in the first chapter of the study, which includes an introduction and three chapters, it is discussed that the political landscape of the environment where Abdullah ibn al-Mubarak grew up, and its socio-cultural position, and educational situation. More over in this chapter, his life and his personality were handled with moral and scientific aspects and his works were exposed. As for the second chapter, it was been examined that his authority in Hadith science. Within this context, it was been argued his place in the history of Hadith and his some opinions in Hadith methodology. In addition to these in this chapter, his authority was been revealed which in al- jarh wa at- ta'dil science. In the third chapter, it was been examined that the narrations both in the main Hadith collections and his works so that his method is identified in which narration and classification. Therefore Ibn al- Mubarak's narrations were studied in aspect of authenticity and sources. Apart from this, the narrations in his surviving- works also were analyzed in various aspects such as narrate expressions, distrust in transmission, ambiguity of the transmission chain (mubham) and incomplete transmitted narration (mursal).
