A review of Abdullah Harmanci's children's books from the fundamental principles of children's literature

Children's understanding, interpretation, language development, imagination, perception of the world and people are different from adults. Considering these differences, it is concluded that they need different literary products that appeal to their minds and worlds. Children's literature was born out of this need and has shown a great development until today. Today, there are various literary products prepared for children. Abdullah Harmancı is a storyteller who started writing children's books for children. In this study, 7 children's books of Abdullah Harmancı, who is known for his storytelling, were examined in terms of their compatibility with the basic principles of children's literature. The research, which consists of four parts, was conducted with the document analysis technique of the qualitative research type. The books were examined under the titles of external structure features, internal structure features and educational principles. According to the findings obtained as a result of the examination, it has been concluded that Abdullah Harmancı's children's books are in accordance with the basic principles of children's literature in terms of external structure features. In the findings related to the internal structure features, in the book called Evliya'nın Sırları, which consists of short stories, findings that are not suitable for the basic principles of children's literature were found in the two stories. Except for these two stories, it has been concluded that all the books are suitable in terms of internal structure features and educational principles. In general, all the works examined; It has been concluded that it is in accordance with the basic principles of children's literature in terms of external structure features, internal structure features and educational principles.
