Abstract (EN)

The properties of atmospheric chamber and measurement methods that are used in this system are explained and analyzed in detail. We present our own custom design atmospheric channel emulator for FSO system evaluations and experimentally investigate the performance of FSO links in different weather conditions. First, we present a link budget and quantify the geometrical loss. Then, we emulate foggy,rainy and turbulent weather conditions inside the chamber and quantify the absorption loss for different wavelengths. Based on the experimental data, we also propose a new and accurate model for the prediction of fog attenuation coefficient.
