Abstract (EN)

The main purpose of this study was to identify the opinions of principals and teachers about the management styles of principals working at primary schools in Adana. This study is model of descriptive search. As a data collection tool, "Management Styles Scale", developed by the researcher, was utilised. The use of factor analysis in scale development was determined based on the results of KMO and Bartlett tests obtained from the pilot study. The scale constituted of 5 sub-questionnaires (autocratic, custodial, supportive, collegial, laissez-faire) with 26 items which were independent of each other. At the end of the study, it was found that the opinions of the school staff about the management styles differed according to their gender, and that the perceptions of the staff about the management styles weren't correlated. Moreover, it was also found that opinions about the job types and management styles differed and the type of schools the staff graduated from, length of service, specialty, the socio-economic condition of the school vicinity and the number of students didn?t change the opinions about the management style of the school.
