İçil province, according to yaerbooks

İçil is a province of Adana province in the period between 1872-1902 when we examined the province of Adana. In this period, Silifke district center, Anamur, Gülnar, Mut and Ermenek consist of five district. Since it has an important port in the Mediterranean and is located on trade routes, trade developed in İçil liva. Agriculture and airmanship are among the most important livelihoods of the people. In addition, timber, forestry, weaving and industry are also important branches in terms of the economy of İçil liva. Exporting the products obtained in these areas through pier has an important place in the development of trade. The inhabitants of the district, which contain demographically different ethnic and religious elements, are Turks, Greeks and Armenians. It is seen that non-Muslims, who do not have a majority in any district, live in Silifke, especially liva center. While Silifke, Anamur and Ermenek districts are very close to each other in terms of population, Mut district has half the population. Many institutions such as Rüştiye Mektebi, Ziraat Bank, Reji Administration, Telegraph and Postal Administration have started to operate in the liva center and other districts the priod we examined.
