Abstract (EN)

Background: Breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed in women in the world. Furthermore it is the second cause of cancer-related deaths in the cancer. The patients who have early-stage breast cancer develops recurrence 20%-30% in the first five years after diagnoses. Trastuzumab significantly improves overall survival and disease free survival HER2-positive women with early and locally advanced breast cancer. This study aimed to define factors that affect disease free survival after adjuvant transtuzumab therapy. Methods: Fourty-seven patients treated with trastuzumab for early and locally advanced breast cancer was included in our study. Retrospective data including pathology, treatments and treatment results, rate of recurrence and laboratory tests were collected. Results: Tumor grade, trastuzumab duration, the type of chemotherapy, hemoglobin value before the treatment with trastuzumab, lymphocyte count after 6 months the treatment with trastuzmab were found to be statistically significant. The median disease-free survival time of patients treated with adjuvant trastuzumab 54.5 months [95% CI (42.8-66.1)] Discussion: Our data showed the prognostic relevance of decrease the peripheral blood lymphocyte count after trastuzumab therapy in breast cancer. Although most of the results in this report are harmony with our working hypothesis and literature, the prognostic relevance of decrease in the number of peripheral blood lymphocyte number after adjuvant trastuzumab therapy in breast cancer in somewhat unexpected
