Demographical study of trauma cases at forensic medicine clinic

Forensic reports is important for the legal system to decide and help to contribute justice to individuals justice for individuals equally and enforceably. In our country most of the emergency appeals are traumas and trauma has the second place in the legal case records. Our aim in this study is to investigate the demographical status of these cases and look for if they are predictors of the type of crime; and if it is so what is the ratio of this relationship. Within the 1657 forensic cases who administered to Forensic Medicine Department between 01.01.2014- 31.12.2014, 126 trauma cases was included this study. The average age of all cases was 35.7±14.1, 36.3±13.4 was for women and 32.4±17.5 for men. We found that in the violence against women and domestic violence mostly it was done by the partners of them, between 17:00-23:59 pm and especially at spring (% 38.1), March(%14.3) and May(%15.9). Most of the cases were graduated from primary school or left primary school and also they were treated by basic medical care without hospitalisation. Also head and neck injuries were the common injuries. Developing policies to prevent child abuse and neglect, violence against women and improve the education level and quality of the society and economical development are in the responsibility of governments. The printing of governance in this direction is our responsibility as individuals living in Turkey. Key Words: Trauma, violence, forensic medicine.
