Abstract (EN)

This study aims to retrospectively examine the demographic, clinical, and functional characteristics of patients diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) according to the 2017 McDonald criteria between 2017 and 2024 in the province of Adıyaman. Demographic data such as disease duration and comorbidities will be evaluated. In addition, clinical parameters including MRI findings (number and localization of lesions, gadolinium enhancement), Expanded Disability Status Scale (EDSS) scores, the presence and number of oligoclonal bands (OCBs), as well as functional assessments such as the 25-Foot Walk Test, the Nine-Hole Peg Test, and the Digit Symbol Substitution Test will be analyzed in detail. The study also encompasses the types of immunomodulatory treatments used by MS patients, the reasons for treatment modifications, and adverse event profiles observed during treatment processes. By outlining the demographic, clinical, and functional characteristics of MS patients in Adıyaman, this research aims to contribute to the understanding of the patient profile specific to this region. As the first comprehensive study on MS patients conducted in Adıyaman, the data obtained are expected to fill an important gap in the literature and serve as a basis for future research.
