Abstract (EN)

The aim of the present study is to investigate the relationship between coronary artery disease (CAD) and IL-6 gene -174 G/C polymorphism in coronary artery patients who live in Adiyaman City, Turkey. With this aim, we isolated the DNA from healthy and patient people's blood and -174 G/C polymorphism was analysed by using polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and electrophoretic techniques. According to our results, there is a significant relation between coronary artery disease and -174 G/C polymorphism in patients who live in Adiyaman City, Turkey. Incidence of -174 G/C gene polymorphisms may vary between different ethnic groups. Further studies should be conducted with different ethnic groups to understand the role of IL-6 -174G/C polymorphism in CAD progress.
