Abstract (EN)

Hypertension is a seriously threating common health problem in World and Turkey for society and individuals? healths as it causes stroke, hearth attack and renal failure. Previous studies suggested that Interleukin 6 has an important role in inflamation and immunity. These studies also observed that some gene polymorphism increases the risk of hypertension. The aim of this study was to inversigate the relationship between IL-6 level and hypertension in IL-6 gene -572 G/C, -174 G/C polymorphism in Adıyaman population. For this porpuse it was investigated 219 non related individuals, 111 hypertensive and diagnosis and 108 normotensive individuals. The samples was isolated their DNAs by using method of salting collapse and amplificated IL-6 gene -572 G/C, -174 G/C locus with spesific primers, after all peformed RFLP by using restriction enzymes. From the same blood samples? plasma we was investigated IL-6 levels by using ELISA kit in microplate reader. Findings were evaluated by appropriate statistical analysis. There was significant difference in the distribution of neither IL-6 gene -572 G/C nor -174 G/C genotypes between patients and controls (p:0,508, p:0,215). The genotype frequency of IL-6 gene -572 G/C and -174 G/C was not associated with mean concentration of IL6 (p: 0,437 ) and mean concentration of C-reactive protein (p: 0,946). When we compared IL-6 gene -572 G/C and -174G/C polymorhisms with control and patient groups, we did not find a significant difference. Also, there was no significant difference between this polymorphisms and levels of serum IL-6 and CRP.The distribution of genotypes and allels in all groups were in accordance with Hardy-Weinberg equations.
