An investigation of adiyaman region folk dance with cultural case and sociological rules

The folk play is an art form that incorporates the sociological sub-structure of a region and identifies it with the cultural riches and the way of life. Adıyaman is a cosmopolitan city located in the southeastern Anatolian region of Turkey and having a very deep civilization history and containing different ethnic origins. In this study, it was tried to investigate forgotten folk dances in Adıyaman province today. For this purpose, a lot of documents have not been found as a result of the literature reviews, and the study has been carried out through direct interviews with the people of the region and the sharing of information with experts in this regard. First of all, by providing brief information about folk music, which is an integral part of folk dances, different definitions of folk dancing and its place in culture are examined. Then, general information about Adıyaman was given and the geographical position of Adıyaman was briefly mentioned. The folk dances in Adıyaman region, game forms, names and grouping of Adıyaman folk dances, some traditions in Adıyaman folk dances, game place, notes of five games studied, stories and play styles, folk dances and reflection on daily life were tried to be determined. As a result of the research, it has been found that the old traditions of games and special days are disappearing, the local costumes related to the past periods can not hold up to modern life and the games which are initially regional in folk dances are influenced by the folk dances of different regions and these games are played in Adıyaman city.
