Examination of the roblems experienced and social service needs of Afgan nationals: Van/Edremit example

Migration has reached the point where it will pose a problem at a rate that has never been seen before in today's global world. The wars in the last quarter century have triggered this phenomenon in the most advanced degree. The phenomenon of migration includes much deeper expressions than its conceptual meaning. In this study on Afghan immigrants living in Van, these effects were more than seen. Within the scope of this research, 20 Afghan families were interviewed in detail. As a result of these interviews, it was seen that Afghan refugees were exposed to severe dramatic situations such as long years of wars, hunger, poverty, torture and rape, and as a result they migrated. This is more than simply a migration, it has a much deeper meaning. Because with this forced migration, people are not only far away from their loved ones and families, but also face serious problems such as hunger, lack of shelter and psychological ruin in the place where they migrate. In addition to this, the education, health and safety problems they experience make themselves inextricable. These problems experienced by Afghan immigrants push them to be child laborers, to work for less than normal wages and to live illegally. In addition to these problems, the inability to express themselves and the possibility of being deported put them in a different psychological dilemma. The data to be obtained as a result of this research aims to determine the social, economic and psychological factors that immigrants live in their places of residence, to determine the works and support provided by social service organizations in this context, and to shed light on future research in this area.
