Africans in Turkey: Experiences and expectations of Ethiopian migrants in Turkey

This thesis addressing to Ethiopian immigrants in Turkey, learn the experiences and expectations of Ethiopian immigrants, and give the reader a different perspective on the lives of Ethiopian migrants in particular, and all African migrants, in general, in Turkey. When Turkey's migration policies are examined in the historical process, it is seen that there is no fixed migration policy, and migration policies are shaped according to periodic and contexts in Turkey. In this study, Ethiopian immigrants were chosen as the subject of analysis. Ethiopia, one of only two uncolonized countries of Sub-Saharan Africa, has a great importance with the African Union's headquarters being in Addis Ababa, being the second most populated country in Africa, and a developing economy. In this direction, the historical relations of Turkey and Ethiopia examined and 25 Ethiopian migrants were interviewed and various questions were asked. While Ethiopian migrants think that there is no racism in Turkey, they think that they can come to Turkey in terms of education, but they should not come to Turkey to work. Besides, it has been concluded that Ethiopian immigrants have similar problems with other immigrant groups, despite this, they are happy in Turkey.
