Abstract (EN)
The continuity of economic activities depends on the mining sector to produce continuously and efficiently. Electricity consumption data are evaluated as a development indicator in the world. There are many ways and sources to generate electricity. One of the cheapest ways to generate electricity for our country is to use lignite coal, which is a local resource. Afşin-Elbistan Coal Basin has approximately 4,3 billion tons of visible reserves. There are a total of 1038 drainage wells, 936 in the in front of the excavation and around, 102 in the karstic field at the Afşin-Elbistan Lignite Enterprice's field. Depending on the specific efficiency of the well, pumps with a flow rate of 17-215 m3/h and 5-14 m3/h in are used in karstic and in the in front of the excavation and around, respectively. On a monthly average, 720,000,000 m3 of water is drained in the in the in front of the excavation and around, 7,700,000,000 m3 in the karstic field. Drained underground and surface waters are discharged into Hurman Stream through the drainage channel of the enterprise. The chemistry of the waters drained from 10 wells in the Afşin-Elbistan Kışlaköy sector's dewatering system was studied. Some of the drainage wells drilled in the karstic aquifer are used as a source of drinking-irrigation water in Thermal Power Plant A, Thermal Power Plant B, Lignite Plant and in the surrounding villages. Within the scope of the study, it was aimed to evaluate the water quality of the Kışlaköy Coal Basin by making physical and chemical analysis of the samples taken, the suitability of drinking-utility water and keeping the data up-to-date. Within the scope of the study, the chemistry of water samples taken during dry (October-2019) and rainy (May-2020) periods was studied. It was determined that all the samples taken were of the Ca / HCO3 + CO3 type. The fact that the basin is surrounded by limestone is the main factor in the water type being Ca-HCO3. Periodic change of facies has not been observed in samples taken during dry and rainy periods.
