Abstract (EN)

This thesis was written in order to reveal the distribution of elements within peatlands, relations with each other and enrichment in the peat by using characteristics of trace elements. Ağaçbaşı Yayla Peatland is located in Köprübaşı, Trabzon. Ağaçbaşı Yayla Peatland which is located altitude of 2042 m, is the highest peatland all of peatland in Turkey. Water intake into peatland is usually provided by rain and snow waters. Ground of study field is composed of volcanic-volkanoclastic rocks and clastic units. These units are cut by Late Cretaceous-Paleocene granitic rocks. According to result from 40 peat sample which taken from study field; when nickel (Ni) average result in Ağaçbaşı Yayla Peatland is higher than peatland at Norway, Russia, Belgium and Greece average results, other trace element's average results are near Norway, Russia, Belgium and Greece average results. According to enrichment factor of trace element's in Ağaçbaş Yayla peatland, Arsenic (As) ve Selenium (Se) element's enrichment factor results are higher than other trace elements's enrichment factor value. Distribution graphs of trace elements in Ağaçbaşı Yayla peatland was drawn. According to these graphs, concentration of Uranium (U), Gallium (Ga), Lithium (Li), Thorium (Th), Llead (Pb), Chromium (Cr), Copper (Cu), Tin (Sn), Barium (Ba), Cerium (Ce), Zinc (Zn) are higher than other trace elements. When the correlation value of the trace elements of the study area is examined, correlation Cu-U, Cu-La, Cu-Ga, Cu-Ce, Cu-Li, Co-La, Co-Ce, Mn-Rb, Mn-Li, U-La, U-Ce, U-Li, Bi-V, Bi-Ga, Bi-Rb, V-Cs, La-Ce, Se-Li, Ga-Li, Cs-Li, Ce-Li are higher than other elements correlation value. Cluster analysis of trace element in Ağaçbaşı Yayla Peat was made and there were two group between trace elements. First group of trace elements are Cd, Bi, Mo, Se, Co, U, Sn, Rb, As, Sr, Cu and these elements are related to granitic rocks in study area. Second group of trace elements are Ni, Cr, Mn, Zn, Pb and these elements are related to mafic rocks in study area. Key words: Ağaçbaşı Yayla, Peat, ICP-MS, Trace Elements
