Effect of loaded and unloaded vertical jump squats on proprioception

This work is carried out to examine the effect of the vertical jump squat, which is weighted and weightless, to the proprioception sensation. In the study, a total of 45 male individual, who studied at Selçuk University's Faculty of Sports Sciences, without any health problems and were chosen with a random method, were divided into 3 different groups of 15 persons. These groups are additional weight group (EAG), body weight Group (VAG) and control group (KG). The EAG and with its own body weight (VAG) was built with vertical jump Squat (DSS) training, which was 3 days a week for 8 weeks, the control group (KG) has continued their routine life and did not do any training. The age averages of groups are EAG: 21,20 ± 1,424, VAG: 21,40 ± 0,828, KG: 20,73 ± 1,223. The dominant and nondominant leg measurements of the participants proprioception perceptions were made for 30˚, 45˚, 60° angles using the Humac Norm 2004 device in the performance laboratory at the Faculty of Sports Sciences of Selçuk University. The results obtained were evaluated by SPSS 22 package program and the descriptive information of the subjects was given as an average and standard deviation. The paired sample T test was used in comparison of independent groups and ANOVA test was used between groups. The TUKEY test was used in multiple comparisons of the groups in which differences were identified. The statistical significance level is taken as 0.05. It has been seen that the subjects have used their right legs as dominant and left legs as nondominant. In comparison of dominant and nondominat (30˚, 45˚ and 60˚) preliminary test and final test values for the subjects participating in the research; only the nondominant (30˚) final test values showed a statistically significant difference with regard to groups (EAG, VAG ve KG) and VAG values were found to be significantly higher than the KG values (P < 0,05). Besides, compared the preliminary test – final test values for the VAG nondominant (45˚), it was determined that preliminary test values were significantly higher than the final test values. Consequently, it can be concluded that the vertical jump squat, except for the nondominant 45º in the group VAG, does not improve the proprioceptive sense.
