Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, the usability of basaltic trachy andesites in and around Ahlat district as aggregates in flexible coating layers was investigated. For this reason, various chemical and physical experiments were carried out on basaltic trachy andesite samples taken from the region. The tests were carried out in accordance with the Technical Specifications for Highways (KTŞ) and international standards (TS EN, AASHTO). In chemical analysis, the main oxide compositions of the rocks (SiO₂, Fe₂O₃, Al₂O₃, etc.) and the effects of these compositions on the properties of the stone were evaluated. In physical experiments, values such as density, water absorption rate, Los Angeles abrasion test and freeze-thaw resistance were examined. The results obtained showed that basaltic trachy andesites are largely adapted to the technical conditions required for aggregates used in road pavement. This study both encourages the effective use of local resources in road construction and offers suggestions to increase the economic potential of the Ahlat region.
