An examining of the folk tales of Kars compiled by Ahmet Ali Arslan in the context of the basic principles of child literature

İt is observed that folk tales have on impartant place in addition to the stories of justice depending on the tradition of minstrelsy (poet) in Kars, Depend an this, in this study, 15 Kars folk tales were searched that collected by Ahmet Ali Arslan. These tales were firstly etamined under the titles of subject, fiction, theme, hero and character, language and telling, enviranment, message, spellin and didactic features that are interior elements of child literature. The suitability of the 15 researched folk tales with the main principles of children's literature was examined. Values education, which is included in the principle of literary and educational (didactive) ways, which one of these main principles, has been examied, under a diffenty topic. İt has been examined that, which values are these in the tales and it has been evaluated of these values numbers. İt has been used document review included way of qualitative research while this research was doing. At the end of the research, it has been come to the canclusion that, there are suitable ways in Kars folk tales in terms of theme, subject, fiction, message, hero and charecter. Also, it has been detected that, there are unsuitable ways such as language and expression, enviranment, written and didactive. When looking at values education, it has been seen that, there are totaly 67 values. Benevelence, hospitolity, goodness are the most used values in the tales. Ayvah Molla, Üş Gardeş, Üş Bacılar are the stories that included many of values. İn the terms of values education, tales are level that will contribute to the development of children.
