Cohesion in Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar's named work Mahur Beste

Along with coherence, cohesion is seen as the most important textuality criteria and has a special importance in perceiving the text as a whole. The determination of cohesion elements as a method that is frequently prefferred in today's text linguistics studies is also the content of this study. The novel named Mahur Beste by Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar, one of the pioneers of Turkish literatüre in the Republican Period and the representative of idyllic poetry movement, was examined under the title of cohesion, and evaluations were made in the light of the data obtained. In the introduction part, general information and explanations are given about the basic concepts and cohesion elements of the study. In the first part, information is given about the concepts that make up the content of the study. Here, text, discourse, text linguistics, textuality criteria, cohesion and cohesion elements are emphasized. Relevant studies on text linguistics were included, and the elements of cohesion were tried to be explained with examples. In the second part, information on Tanpınar's life and works was shared, "Mahur Beste" novel, which is the subject of the study, was introduced, together with examples throught the text, elements of cohesion; reference, ellipsis, substitution, conjunctions and lexical cohesion were determined under subheadindgs.
