Abstract (EN)

Tanzimat periodis the beginning of an eclectical process, in which Turkish modernization, individual and social transformation were targeted. This process is executed through the Tanzimat intellectuals and their works. Forthe purpose of raising awareness of the society, it was aimed woman to have a new identity in family, which is the smallest building block of state, thus riding of her passiveness and to rise up to the position of efficient subject. Tazminat's narratives were fictionalized with feminist theory, which generates the system of values aiming to change 'the secondary position' of woman, which was shaped with the roles that were referred by patriarchal gender. It is seen in the novels and stories of Ahmet Midhat Efendi, who took it as his duty to educate the society evaluating the positive and negative aspects of West's cultural transfers that the social role patterns referred to the woman by patriarchal system was enlarged, broken, and the narratives were shaped so as to making woman free. It is fictionalized in the works, the efforts forgetting Ottoman woman to have 'ideal of new woman', which was shaped with in the framework of the information and her struggle for existence. The women, unable to reach that ideal or fail to reach the level of awareness get disappeared becoming framework indistinct. Synchronizing the female-male relations to the integrity of subject-object, causes the woman to exceed the domination of men in the order that took a fixed form, otherwise the woman will be demoted to the position of the object. Through an electical method, beginning from his life story, the analysis on the narratives of Ahmet Midhat Efendi was realized in this study. Mainly feminist and in addition, psychoanalytic method and structuralist method were applied. Seven main themes were formed under the titles of destroying and creating freedom "Education, Marriage, Love, Mother, Working Woman, Role Borrowing: Men Women, Corrupted Women." Inaddition, the place of women in Abrahamic Religions, and the place of Turkish woman with in the historical process as well.
