Abstract (EN)

In this study, AISI 4140 steel was investigated for its high temperature sliding abrasion behavior. The experiments were performed with Pin On Disk wear device on specimens prepared with a size of 30x10 mm under loads of 3, 5, 7 and 10 N at the temperatures of 25 (room temperature), 100, 200, 300 and 450 °C. 3D optical microscopy was used to determine the volume losses of the samples. SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy) was used to determine the morphology of the wear surfaces of the samples. In addition, Raman spectrometer was applied to determine the oxide types that occur at the wear surface due to high temperature and friction. As a result, the volume losses in the samples increased due to increment in the load. In the experiments performed at 300 °C, the volume loss rates were lower compared to the other samples. The highest volume losses were obtained in the experiments conducted at the temperature of 450 °C. A tribological layer was formed on the surface of the samples subjected to the dry-sliding process. In experiments carried out at 100 °C and 200 °C, the delamination type predominant wear mechanism was observed at all loads. Apart from this, oxidation wear mechanism was also observed.
