Abstract (EN)

Akkadians, a Semitic community that first appeared in history during the Sumerian period, BC. They came to Northern Mesopotamia around the third millennium BC and lived for a while under the rule of the Sumerians in this region. As a result of the disputes between the Sumerian cities, the Akkadians became a superior power in the region after a while and established an empire under the leadership of Sargon. In this study, firstly, the existence of the Akkadians since the Sumerian period was discussed, and their rise, establishment of an empire, and the campaigns carried out by the kings were evaluated respectively. As a result of this study, it was concluded that a great empire was established in line with the military activities carried out during the reign of Akkadian King Sargon, that the empire was preserved during the period of his successors, that military activities continued during the Naram-Sin period, and that it weakened and the kingdom collapsed during the Shar-kali-Sharri period.
