Abstract (EN)
This study focuses on examining academicians' leisure time preferences for recreational activities, individual motives of participation in these activities, leisure motivation and other variables affecting them. 215 academicians who serve in the faculties and colleges of Anadolu and Osmangazi University in Eskişehir voluntarily participated in the study. In order to collect data, the "Personal Information Form" was used to determine the demographic information of the participants and the ''Leisure Motivation Scale'' which developed by Pelletier, Vallerand, Blais and, Briere and adapted by Mutlu have been applied. The Turkish version of the scale consists of 5 sub-dimensions and 22 items. The total internal consistency of the scale was calculated as .77. SPSS for Windows 16 Package was used during the evaluation of the data. The values of skewness and kurtosis were determined and it was determined that the data had normal distribution. Independent Sample t-test and One Way ANOVA tests have been used to determine meaningful differences. As a result, it was determined that the motivation of participation of academicians in recreational activities are significantly different according to gender, difficulty in evaluating leisure time and leisure time types. There is no significant difference in terms of age, marital status, level of prosperity, a sufficiency of leisure time and motivation for participation in recreational activities according to which part of the day/week of leisure time.
