Abstract (EN)

Estimation of Total Sediment Load in Rivers by Determining, Suspended and Bed Loads From the viewpoint of rivers, Turkey is one of the abudant countries in the world. Therefore; water is very important in the country. Especially in the Eastern Black Sea Region, one of the richest region with respect to surface water resources, water has vital importance. Various researches related to sediment transport discharges have been carried out worldwide. However, since the parameters which affect the sediment transport mechanizm are too much, the results of each study are found to be different from the others; so that, some of these results become 100 times of another. Because of the various parameters to affect the phenomenon, a general formula have not be obtained yet. The purpose of this experimental study is, by using the bed slope, flow discharge and size of sediment particles data of Eastern Black Sea Region Rivers, to determine a general formula to be able to calculate the sediment transport discharge. The study includes seven chapters and three appendices. In the first chapter, general knowledge about the purpose of the thesis and a litareture review are given. In the second chapter, the experimental studies are presented. The third cahapter contains the results and formulas obtained from these experimental studies. In the fourth chapter, the formulas determined from this study are compared with both field data and some formulas given in the literature. The conclusions of this study are presented in the fifth chapter. The suggestions are given in the sixth chapter. References are listed in the seventh chapter. Regression equations and correlation coefficient for suspended and bed load are given in the appendices 1 and 2, respectively. Appendix 3 contains some photograps related to experimental studies. Keywords: Sediment Transport Discharge, Experimental Study, Suspended Load, Concentration, Bed Load VI
