Comparision with Akdeniz University Faculty of Education pre-service teachers and teachers' self-efficacy beliefs working in Antalya

Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this study is to compare with teachers' sense of self-efficacy beliefs and pre-service teachers' self-efficacy beliefs in terms of some variables. The study employed general screening model. In accordance with their purpose, whether teachers' and pre-service teachers' self efficacy beliefs show a significant difference in term of gender, graduation grade, graduation branch, type of school, career, age and length of service was investigated. "Teachers' Sense of Self-efficacy Scale " which was developed by Tschannen-Morgan and Hoy (2001) and translated inti Turkish by Çapa, Çakıroğlu and Sarıkaya (2005) was applied to teachers and pre-service teachers. The scale consists of three factors bearing the names " Efiicacy in Student Engagement", "Efficacy in Instructional Strategies" and " Efficacy in Classroom Management. The data were analized by Pearson Korelation, ANOVA and t test which are parametric test tecniques. The scale was applies to 380 teachers in Antalya's central boroughs and 216 pre-service teachers in Akdeniz University Faculty of Education Department with sample random sampling method. The obtained data were analayzed with SPSS for Windows 23.0 program. According to the findings teachers' sense of self-efficacy beliefs did not differ significantly in terms of gender, graduation grade, career, age and length of service but type of school and graduation branch differ in term of teachers' sense of self-efficacy beliefs.Pre-service teachers' self-efficacy beliefs were lower than teachers' sense of self-efficacy beliefs. Moreover; Pre-service teachers' self-efficacy beliefs did not differ in terms of gender, branch and graduation level.
