Abstract (EN)

The legend, one of the narrative-based genres of folk literature, is an extraordinary story told by believing in a person, a place or an event. These stories fell into oblivion because of the negative effect of the rapidly developing technology on the oral culture in our age and because they weren't put in writing. The legend, reflects the cultural characteristics of a society as a mirror of which it comes. The main purpose of this study is preventing legends which bear important traces of a nation's culture, from being forgotten and conveying them to next generations in the first chapter of the work "Legends of Aksaray", a general description of legend is made. In the second chapter a folkloric dissertation was done on the products obtained from the field by using the "interview method". In this chapter, the relation with the Turkish-Islamic culture with the legends, Turkish mythology, Turkish folk belief, Islamic belief in other words from yesterday to today was analysed. No place was given to Anatolian legends. In the result chapter of the work is connected to a result, illations and suggestions were included. 150 legend texts which were campiled in Aksaray are submitted in the text chapters. Texts, obtained from oral sources, are put down on paper by preserving its originality. Texts, obtained from written sources, are submitted in the form of the source
