Examination of the legends of Aksaray in terms of the root values included in the Turkish lesson curriculum

This study aims to examine the legends of Aksaray in terms of the core values (justice, friendship, truthfulness, self-control, patience, respect, love, responsibility, patriotism and helpfulness) included in the "2019 Turkish Language Curriculum" (TDÖP). It is emphasized that in addition to developing language skills in Turkish language lessons, the transfer of values is also an important goal. In this direction, it was evaluated to what extent the legends reflecting the cultural heritage of Aksaray contain the relevant values and how they can be used in educational processes. The study was conducted with document analysis, one of the qualitative research methods, and within the scope of the evaluation, the narratives in Aydoğan's (2019) work titled "Aksaray Legends" were examined. The legends were analyzed, the values in their content were determined, and these values were evaluated by comparing them with the core values defined in TDÖP. While the research provides a holistic perspective on how local cultural elements can be integrated into the educational process, it aims to contribute to the development of original and cultural materials that can be used in Turkish lessons. As a result of the analysis, it was determined that the root values in the legends were processed at different intensities. It is particularly noteworthy that the values of "respect" and "helpfulness" are emphasized more frequently than others. These findings show that Aksaray legends offer rich content in terms of value education and can be used as teaching material in Turkish lessons.
