Investigation of factors affecting domestic wastewater characteristic in Aksaray

In this study, the wastewater characteristics of Aksaray Province Center were examined and the factors affecting this were investigated. Within the scope of this study, the wastewater characteristics of the city were determined based on the results of analysis and flow between the years 2015 and 2016. Seasonal and daily flow changes, compared with population density and average water use. The results obtained in these comparisons were found to be different from those required and the causes of these differences were investigated. Especially flow rates were found to be lower or higher than required values. In order to investigate the differences in flow rates, it has been determined that it affects the flow rate due to factors such as groundwater, rain water, pipe leaks and defacto irrigations. In addition, it is seen that there are dilutions caused by flow rates in the analyzed parameters and it did not reflect the actual values. These values should be taken into account in the planned domestic wastewater treatment plant and measures should be taken in advance. Furthermore, groundwater should be prevented from infiltrating the existing grid and leaks must be identified and repaired. Also the rainwater lines must be completed, and switching from the combined sewer system to the discrete sewage system will be important for the operability of the wastewater treatment plant.
