Abstract (EN)

Within the scope of this study, isolation and identification of Enterococcus genus bacteria from 22 Tulum cheese samples sold in Aksaray province were performed and their antibiotic susceptibilities were determined. Gram-positive and catalase-negative strain were evaluated to be Enterococcus spp as a result of morphological tests. After purification 62 Enterococcus isolate were stored at -24 ˚C. After DNA isolation, the 16S rRNA gene region of the isolates was amplified and sequenced. As a result of sequencing, the species were identified as follows: E. faecium (n = 30), E. faecalis (n = 25) and E. durans (n = 7). Antibiotic susceptibilities to 14 different antibiotics of the strains were performed using the disc diffusion method. It was determined that the isolates showed moderate or high resistance to nalidixic acid (100%), oxacillin (92%), and streptomycin (72.6%) in total E. faecalis strains were found to have more resistant phenotypes to various clinically important antibiotics than E. faecium and E. durans strains. Multiple antibiotic resistance was found to be 41.93%.
