Investigation of the potential biochemical effects of bisphenol-A on albino mice: Protective role of green coffee

Abstract (EN)

In this study, the effects of Bisphenol A (BPA) on some biochemical parameters in albino mice were investigated. Green coffee was selected as a protective agent against the toxic effects of BPA and Green coffee applied to all treatment groups in two dosage. In this scope, 6 treatment groups (each group contain 6 mice, Mus musculus, 12–14 week, 25–30 g ) were created. In experimental period, group I treated with tap water, group II treated with 100 mg/kg.bw green coffee, group III treated with 400 mg/kg.bw green coffee, group IV treated with 50 mg/kg.bw BPA, group V treated with 100 mg/kg.bw green coffee + 50 mg/kg.bw BPA, group VI treated with 400 mg/kg.bw green coffee + 50 mg/kg.bw BPA. At the end of the experiment, blood samples were collected and then the serum samples were obtained. Alaninetransaminase (ALT), Aspartate tarnsaminase (AST), Blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and creatinin parameters were investigated in serum samples. And also liver and kidney tissues were isolated and MDA, GSH analysis were performed. As a result of study, important alterations were observed in ALT, AST, BUN and creatinine levels of BFA treated group. This alterations can be explained by the potential toxic effects of BFA on cells. MDA levels of BFA treated group were increased and GSH levels were decreased. Some improvements were observed in all testted parameters in Green Coffee and BFA treated groups according to BFA treated group. So the protective effect of green coffee against BPA toxicity was supported from these results.
