Abstract (EN)

Innovations brought by today's technology took place in our lives in very short time and continuous development produced renovation concept, which not only effected people but also had a major impact on space concepts. This renovation have been more effective on space constructions and by that, spaces have intertwined and produced new life cultures. Socio-cultural spaces meeting shopping malls is seen as a result of that space intertwining. In such complex structures, it is aimed to ensure continuity of the shopping activity. Beside this aim's trade dimention, it is also to make people forget about space-time concept in order to bring in a character to spaces. Accordingly, lighting designs are expected to be resolved with statuses of causing user forget time concept and fitting with entire design. As artificial lighting's importance is increasing after all these, in scope of work, lighting quality, which significantly affect the space quality, is examined by quantitative and qualitative characteristics of sample shopping malls. In the scope of this work, lightening, which is an important part of designing, will be examined by shopping mall samples, in order that shopping malls are common places for people from several ages and jobs. Aim of the study is; to state precisely criteria of lightening, which will provide the necessary conditions of visual comfort in food-courts of shopping malls, where the social interaction is in high levels, and to examine specific malls in accordance with these criteria. In this context; In first part, there is determination of the issue, introduction to the problem, aim to the study and review of literature about topic. Perception concept and seeing issue, which is effecting the point of the study, are examined with sub-topics. Space concept is explained, factors effecting space quality are studied within the context of study, from comfort criteria, visual comfort terms are denoted. Lightening concept is explained in terms of space-lightening relation. General information is given about shopping concept, its historical development, shopping malls and lightening specifications of shopping malls. In the second part, research methods and techniques are explained and information regarding the conduct of study are given. In third and forth parts, findings, which are results of studies, and considerations are given. Results take part in fifth part. Suggestions are given in sixth part.
