Abstract (EN)

The use of aluminum alloys and polymers in automotive and aerospace industries is increasing day by day within the scope of weight reduction studies. In addition to weight reduction studies in the manufacturing industry, the studies are being made on metal and plastic hybrid structures, which are light and have mechanical strength. In this study, similar and hybrid joints of aluminum, polycarbonate, 30 percent glass fiber reinforced polypropylene sheets were worked on using the welding apparatus, which were designed with reference to the friction stir spot welding method. Welding applications have been carried out by using three different plunge depths depending on material type and keeping other parameters constant. The effects of plunge depth on welding strength, macrostructure and dome structure formed after welding have been investigated by mechanical tests and dimensional measurements in welded specimens.
