Abstract (EN)

Presence of the greenways is important for citizens, urban climate, and urban ecosystem. Open green spaces are the combination of systems that provide ecological, aesthetical, economic, and recreational benefits. Open green spaces are in rapid decline recently due to increase in population, industrialization, irregular urbanization, technological advancements, and economic reasons. Greenway planning model can be a solution for these problems. Greenways are linear corridors that connect historical and cultural areas, natural reserve areas, recreational areas, parks, and urban forests along riversides, railroads, ridges, and valleys. Amasya was selected as the study area. This city includes natural, historical, touristic, and traditional characteristics of Yeşilırmak corridor. In this study, a multipurpose greenway planning was tried to put forth for city and urban green spaces to be a solution to problems of the city using other corridors in the Yeşilırmak corridor.
