Abstract (EN)
Traditional Anatolian kilim motifs have become important reflectors of collective memory, identity, and cultural expression. However, with the influence of developing technologies and globalization, they have gradually begun to lose their place in visual culture. This has led to the interruption of cultural continuity and the exclusion of traditional symbols from contemporary art practices. This problem leads not only to the loss of the motifs' aesthetic value but also to the loss of their symbolic and historical meanings. The aim of this thesis is to examine the representation of Anatolian kilim motifs in contemporary Turkish art, while preserving their cultural and symbolic value, and to reveal how they can be interpreted through digital media. This study uses a purposive sampling method to identify traditional kilim art and the works of artists from both Turkey and around the world who utilize traditional art in their work. The historical process is analyzed within the context of symbolic and cultural values. In this context, the Feldman Method, the Panofsky Method, and Cultural Analysis Methods were used as data collection methods.
