Political and military relations between The Anatolian Seljuk State and The Byzantine Empire (1075-1220)

One of the two states that hosted many civilizations in the ancient history and left many traces of war and peace and witnessed important events in Anatolia are the Byzantine and Seljuks. Anatolian Seljuk Anatolia or Turkey where it is also called the Seljuk Turks in neighboring articles of their state and some states of the Byzantine common history. The Seljuks had proved themselves after the Dandanakan War. Afterwards there were especially westward expeditions. The contact point of these movements was Byzantine. After Ani, Malazgirt and Miryakefalon wars after a century, it was well understood that Seljuks were permanent in Anatolia. There have been wars and peace in the historical process between the two states. Sometimes members of the dynasty also took shelter. Much more than a uniform relationship is hidden in details. The study focusing on a certain period of Seljuk-Byzantine relations is an effort to understand political and economic relations. Another aim of the project that has been projecting the years from the foundation of the Seljuk State to the period of Alaeddin Keykubad is to try to show how dangerous the internal issues can be as much as the dangers coming from outside.
