Abstract (EN)

In spite of the fact that the wet lands make up one of the fundamental ecosystems, they have been regarded by the man as harmful areas in the course of the history. An awareness of the significance of wet lands has recently begun to rise. The environmental insight displayed by the man at national and international levels during the recent years is important to ensure the sustainability of wet lands ecosystem. As the result of this positive development, the parts of land in our country involving biologic diversity have been taken under preservation and declared as SEPR's (Special Environmental Protection Region) so as to ensure their sustainability. To this end, an area of 273.94 km² in the periphery of Gölbaşı district in the province of Ankara on 22 October 1990.The aim of this study to define the effects of Mogan Park, Gölbaşı, Ankara on Gölbaşı SEPR and to determine how to ensure the sustainable utilization of the area.In line with this objective, information regarding the flora and fauna has also been provided in addition to the physical data of the area. Along with them, data for Mogan Park has been submitted as well. So as to be able to detect the changes in topography that make up a part of the physical data, pictures of Mogan Park taken by satellite before and after the construction have been used. These images have been combined with each other and changes have been discovered through a 2100 meter-long lake banks. The change in the reed beds that are a part of the area's flora has also been discovered through the same method and conveyed to the GIS (Geographical Information Systems) medium. Acquired datum has revealed that 5400 m² of reed beds have been wiped out. The change in the fauna has been determined by means of the yearly counting activity carried out by the Nature Society and it has been found out that 65 species of migratory birds have not ever come to the area again. In the context of this data explored in the study, it has been disclosed that the sustainable utilization of the area has not been given consideration to during the construction of Mogan Park in the jurisdiction of Gölbaşı SEPR and proposals have been submitted for the solution of the problems found out accordingly. Keywords: Special environmental protection region, Wetlands, Mogan Lake, AnkaraScience Code: 502.11.01
