Abstract (EN)
The scope of this thesis that is prepared at the Bartın University Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences Department of Forest Industry Engineering Department is ?Study of Occupational Health and Safety in Medium and Large Size Companies Operating in Woodworking Industry in Ankara.?In order to be trustful in terms of content of the study, general information about the medium and large companies operating in furniture sector in Turkey is gathered by investigating previous studies that are conducted in Turkey. Verbal and quantitative information is obtained from the studies carried out by trustful organizations like General Directorate of Occupational Health and Safety, Turkish Statistical Institute, The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey, Labor and Social Security Research and Education Center and Turkish Standards Institute.In addition to these, for the study to be useful and efficient, a survey is conducted. Survey questions are directed to the selected firms operating in woodworking industry in Ankara.Survey results are the main source for this study. Due to this, the survey questions include the following topics: information about the company, on-site doctor and company sanitation, consciousness and prowess, identification of danger, planning for evaluation and control of risk. The survey results are obtained from 29 companies by directing the survey questions to each company directly. In the light of these results, the current situation of companies, and their characteristics are depicted in the forms of tables and graphs. While these tables and graphs helped to determine the problems of the companies about the subjects, the solutions and suggestions are given in part results and suggestions.
