Evaluation of spring bread wheat by the terms of grain yield and yield components for a spring sowing in Ankara with the drought conditions

Abstract (EN)

This research was carried out in Ankara ecological conditions to observe 19 spring bread wheat lines developed by CIMMYT for the semi-arid climate zone and 5 check varieties will be affected in terms of yield and yield components by sowing under dry conditions and in early spring, whether there is any variation among the genotypes in terms of yield and yield components. The experiment was established in Ankara in the 2022 growing season with three replications in a randomized block experimental design; 24 genotypes were used in total. In this study, yield and yield components, morphological and phenological characteristics and drought tolerance of the genotypes were evaluated and the relationships between the traits were examined. The average grain yield was 236.1 kg/da. The average yields of the genotypes in the experiment varied between 160.9 kg/da (G 7) and 312.9 kg/da (G 22). There were 210 simple relationships among the traits, 44 of these relationships had statistically significant correlation coefficients, 25 were positive and significant, and 19 were negative and significant. The highest level of relationship was determined between flag leaf length and flag leaf area (r=0.9521**). In this study, the changes in climatic and precipitation distribution observed in the Central Anatolia region in recent years have brought to the forefront the necessity of different applications for sowing time and varieties to be sown. It was concluded that spring bread wheat varieties correctly selected in early spring in Central Anatolia region can be evaluated under dry conditions.
