The impact of parental attitude and audit position on academic motivation: The role of the mediator of self-regulation

The purpose of the research is to reveal the role of the mediator of self-regulation in the influence of parents' attitude and control focus on academic motivation. The sample of the research was composed of 885 students who studied in 3 vocational schools, 4 Anatolian high schools and 3 science high schools in Gaziantep in 2017-2018 education year. Personal Information Form, Academic Motivation Scale, Parental Attitude Scale, Adolescent Self-Regulation Scale and Internal-External Control Scale were used to collect the data of the study. According to the results of the Model 1 intervention test, the effects of the democratic and authoritarian parental attitude on academic motivation are significant. In Model 2, when the direct effects were examined, it was seen that the control focus was not a significant predictor of academic motivation for a long period of time with the variable variable modeling. This is evidence that the self-regulation skills between control focus and academic motivation have an intermediary role.
