The relationship among problems defined by parents, psychiatric diagnosis and RCADS-CV scores

In this study, it was aimed to examine relationship between parental complaints and psychiatric diagnosis of children and adolescents who came to a private psychiatric outpatient clinic. Besides that, it was investigated the relationship between the scores and diagnosis that Revised Child Anxiety and Depression Scale (RCADS-CV) gives and diagnosis of psychiatrist and parental chief complaints of their children. 36 girls and 42 boys were included to the research. Statistical analysis done with Mann Whitney-U test, Chi-square test and independent group t test. The findings show that there are relationship between some complaints and diagnosis which are; worry and generalized anxiety disorder, hyperactivity and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, hyperactivity and tic and Tourette disorder, obsession and obsession compulsion disorder. When considering the relationship between RCADS-CV points and complaints, there is a relationship between depression point and unhappiness. There is a relationship between GAD diagnosis and RCADS-CV separation anxiety point, OCD diagnosis and total anxiety point, MDD/ distimi and depression point, social anxiety disorder diagnosis and generalized anxiety point; separation anxiety diagnosis and RCADS-CV separation anxiety, social phobia and total anxiety score. When RCADS-CV diagnosis and psychiatric diagnosis are compared there is a relationship between depression and MDD/distimi, between RCADS-CV separation anxiety and RCADS-CV social phobia and separation anxiety disorder. Besides, there is a relationship between RCADS-CV OCD diagnosis and obsession and relationship problems, and RCADS-CV depression and unhappiness.
