Abstract (EN)

Turkey is known to be one of the most active earthquake zones in the world due to its geographical location. In this study, the performance analysis of the buildings previously constructed in the Earthquake Zones within the scope of TBDY 2018 is examined and the earthquake safety of the existing buildings, repair and retrofitting recommendations are made and the issues of upgrading to the targeted level are discussed. In the Turkish Building Earthquake Code, there are two different calculation methods as linear and non-linear methods to determine building performances. In the study, the information required within the scope of TBDY 2018 about Tekirova Larissa Phaselis Princess Hotel, which is located within the borders of Tekirova Neighborhood, Kemer Municipality, Antalya province, built in 1987, on real estate with 147 Block 1 parcel number, was collected and performance analysis was examined by linear method. ETABS and Sta4CAD programs were used to determine the performance analysis of the existing building. In addition, due to the architectural changes to be made in the building, a comprehensive retrofitting model was prepared with the Sta4CAD program and a retrofitting proposal was made as a result of the analysis reports examined. Within the scope of TBDY 2018, it was examined whether the "Controlled Damage level for DD-2 Earthquake Ground Motion Level was achieved. As a result of the analyzes, it was determined that the existing structural systems of all blocks in the building consisting of three blocks with two dilatations could not meet the targeted performance levels. It is concluded that the building under investigation should be strengthened. Within the scope of the retrofitting scenario, the architectural changes to be made and the addition of a terrace floor to the building were taken into consideration, balanced and symmetrical curtains were added as much as possible in the y direction in all blocks, and 15cm thick sheathing was added to the facade columns. A 2-storey sheathing was applied to the columns in the middle regions of the blocks with Teknowrap 600. It was predicted that 2 layers of sheathing with Teknowrap 300 should be applied on the beams that need to be reinforced. Performance analysis was performed for the retrofitted condition and it was concluded that the Controlled Damage Performance level for DD-2 Earthquake Ground Motion Level was achieved in all blocks within the scope of TBDY 2018.
