Abstract (EN)
The aim of the study was to examine the relationship between emotional maltreatment in coach-athlete relationship and athlete self-efficacy and burnout. A total of 227 football players, 25 female and 202 male, with an average age of 22,19±3,88 and an average of 10,19±4,86 years of sport, participated in the study. The data were analysed using IBM SPSS 27 package programme. It was determined that the data were suitable for normal distribution. Descriptive statistics (frequency, arithmetic mean, standard deviation); Independent sample t test analysis, Pearson Correlation Analysis and Manova test were used as statistical methods in data analysis. Confidence level was taken as .05 in the applied statistical tests. According to the findings of the study, it was determined that male football players were exposed to emotional maltreatment more than female football players. Footballers between the ages of 21-23 were found to be exposed to emotional maltreatment more. It was determined that the football players who participated in the study experienced more burnout and their self-efficacy levels decreased with the increase in the level of emotional maltreatment they were exposed to, while football players with high self-efficacy levels experienced less burnout. Footballers with 13 or more years of sporting experience were found to have higher self-efficacy. As a result, it was determined that the male football players who participated in the study experienced more intense burnout and low self-efficacy levels decreased with more emotional maltreatment, and the self-efficacy levels increased with the increase in the years spent in the branch. Accordingly, it can be said that football players who are exposed to emotional abuse are negatively affected in terms of both burnout and self-efficacy.
