Abstract (EN)

Civil commotions and conflicts that occurred in Arab world in 2010 caused many people to immigrate and become asylees and refugees. While those rebellions turned into civil war in some countries, the fact that conflicts turned into civil war in Syria which is the last stop of rebellions has caused Syrian refugee crisis worldwide. While the movement of migration and asylee problem in the earlier stages affected mainly the neighboring countries, these also affected European countries profoundly in 2015. During this period, refugees who fled from the conflicts especially in Syria and reached European countries in mass, caused the refugee crisis in Europe. Germany as the destination country is one of the most targeted countries in the country was deeply affected by the refugee crisis. This asylee and refugee problem that Germany encountered after the Arab Spring have become highly debatable in the policies followed in the matter of the refugee crisis that broke out 2015, in the European Union and domestic policy of Germany and some segments of the German society. Particularly the fact that asylum requests to Germany heat record high in 2015 and the rising refugee problem in consequence of the open-door policy followed by Angela Merkel in the beginning also have influence in rising xenophobia in the country.Especially with some problems experienced and terrorist incidents directed towards refugees and the majority of them being Muslims, there has been an increase in discrimination, hatred, racism and violence against Muslims. In this study, the approach of Germany to the refugee crisis after the Arab Spring, and in this direction, Islamophobia was analyzed in Germany after the Arab Spring. In the meantime, the study is supported and scrutinized by taking opinion of the German society on the matter by means of field research carried out in Germany.
