Euthanasi̇a i̇n the context of Ari̇stotle's ethi̇cs opi̇ni̇on

Euthanasia is one the important questions often discussed in ethical field, specially in medical ethics or bioethics. But the discussion is usually carried out in isolation from philosophical ethics. It may be said that philosophical anthropology, axiology and ethics can enlighten the discussions of euthanasia, when it is done without departing from ethics (philosophical ethics). What is the aimed at in this thesis is, when euthanasia is examined with the ethical viewpoint of Aristoteles, to submit that his view can be effective in solving some problems arising from euthanasia. To gain this goal, the definition of ethics, and its difference from morals is tired to be shown in the first chapter. When we view ethics and morals the same, it becomes almost impossible to discuss the problems of euthanasia. Because morals understandings of a certain time and place give us a proposal in general but doesn't tell us the fact that a new evaluation should be done in each case. However, since in this chapter euthanasia is discusssed in the context of ethics of each profession and specially medical ethics, the objective of professional ethics and its difference from philosophical ethics are tried to be shown. In the second chapter, in general, it has been focused on what is understood from euthanasia and what the euthanasia kinds are. And the problems arose at euthanasia has been discussed in the context of Aristotele's ethics. Aristotele's distinction between actions, the necessity of viewing the moment the action was realized and the thought of what kind of action possibilities would be more in the case of the action in question was taken place all have been of a great importance from the point of view of euthanasia discussions and also this has been tried to indicate. In the third and final chapter, it has been stated that euthanasia is such a touchy condition stands between life and death or death and murder. So as Aristoteles indicated, it is neccesarry to approach and evaluate each case ( the event, the patient, or the person) individually. It has been concluded that the doctor who evaluates the case should have not only the professional knowledge but also the ethics and value and values as well.
